Research
We have close research collaborations with the Universities of Hohenheim, Kassel and Rottenburg. Every year, mütek has the opportunity to meet students and professors from the Universities of Hohenheim and Rottenburg to find out about current technological developments in the area of shredding, briquetting and combustion. A close research collaboration was agreed on in which mütek would support the students with know-how and technology, while the students would have to make their research results and theoretical knowledge available "at the research border".
At these mütek events, the students will be informed about the topics "biomass crushing and biomass compaction". The shredding technology, the briquetting technology and also the combustion technology (especially the materials Miscanthus, straw and wood) are explained. After a theoretical introduction, the students will be shown the differences in the size of wood and straw by means of various tests. A practical demonstration shows how wood, straw and miscanthus can be crushed and subsequently processed without further development of dust into briquettes. In addition, the company's own heating system demonstrates how wood briquettes are automatically be burnt in wood-chip boilers.
In addition to these very interesting cooperation days, some students also use the opportunity to write their final thesis at mütek. For example, the energetic use of rice streams in the Philippines or the briquetting of foliage for energy production were studied extensively by students. In addition, a student has dealt with wear reduction by material screening. Another student has dealt with the development of a marketing concept.
